We are now very close to the departure of this year's Bash from Moonee Valley Racecourse on Thursday 14th August, 2008.
We depart at 10:00am and the gates will be open at 8:00am and Variety is running breakfast (for a small fee) for anybody who may wish to come along early and view the cars up close and personal.
More specifically to our car:
We are very much in the final i dotting and t crossing stages and we have recently passed scrutineering and we are now fully approved and ready to hit the roads...............and the dirt tracks.
Our Fundraising night at the Watsonia RSL invited our attendee's to come up with a team name given we had spend some time, without success, to finalise this task ourselves.
We had many positive suggestions and in the end it literally came down to the toss of a coin and from then on we became known as the Phoenix 4.
The combined resources of many people have resulted in team Phoenix 4 in Car 17 collecting around $35,000 to contribute to this year's event.
This figure far exceeds our wildest expectations and it would be impossible to thank everybody who has contributed in the various ways from cash donations, raffle and auction prizes, assistance at our events, sale of raffle tickets, help with the preparation of the car and so it goes on.
Our simple thank you does not seem enough.
We have met many people and organisations who have gladly supported this wonderful Charity and in particular this year's affiliation with the Neo-Natal Emergency Transport Service and we hope when you see one of these specially equipped ambulance on the road or watch these guys in action on a TV event, you will feel as much pride as we will to have contributed to this worthwhile entity.
We hope to be able to provide regular updates and maybe a few photos of the event as we undertake the Bash course but given the nature and location of some of our "points of interest" we are not sure at this time just how successful these updates are going to be.
At the very worst we will be able to give you a complete overview on our return.
Thank you one and all once again for your valued support for the 2008 event.
Our Kindest Regards
Ken, Glenn, Ian & Ross
